Loads of Caring needs Host Teams! This is a bimonthly free laundry event offered by The Caring Place in partnership with a host organization and Washatopia. Businesses, congregations, or community groups are great participants.
Loads of Caring is a first-come, first-served free laundry event for our community with events held on the second Tuesday and last Thursday of every month.
Neighbors bring their laundry and run the washing machines and dryers themselves with funds provided by Washatopia in Georgetown, The Caring Place, and host organizations. These free laundry events allow neighbors to stretch their dollars when times are tough.
What does a Host Team do?
Host Teams are the heart of our Loads of Caring events. By providing volunteers and financial support, you’ll make a difference in the lives of our neighbors. It’s a hands-on experience filled with joy, compassion, and connection!
- Host Teams typically consist of 12-16 caring volunteers to organize and work at each event.
- We find it works best to have 6-8 volunteers from 4 to 6 PM and another 6-8 volunteers from 6 to 8 PM.
- Volunteers should also arrive 10 minutes before their shift for training.
- Having a team member who speaks Spanish helps us connect with more members of the community, but is not required.
- *Host Teams cover two-thirds of the washing machine costs, with Washatopia generously contributing the remaining third.
- Many teams also provide event supplies, and The Caring Place will cover any additional purchases of soap and dryer sheets.
Loads of Caring is more than just clean clothes; it’s about building relationships, offering comfort, and creating a welcoming space for everyone. By acting as a Host Team, you'll discover the incredible rewards of giving back and making a tangible impact on the lives of those in need. Become a Host Team by signing up here. You'll find the dates we need a host on the Sign-Up Genius page.
*Do you have a reliable, energetic team, but not sure if your organization can cover the costs? Please reach out to Erin Becnel at ebecnel@caringplacetx.org and learn how you can participate!
