Give Through a Charitable Trust

A thoughtful way to support your neighbors — and your own financial goals — at the same time.

A charitable trust lets you make a meaningful gift to The Caring Place while creating income, tax advantages, or a lasting legacy for the people and causes you love. It's one of the most flexible tools in planned giving, and it turns your generosity into real, lasting help for families right here in Georgetown and northern Williamson County.

What Is a Charitable Trust?

A charitable trust is a giving arrangement that lets you contribute assets (cash, stock, real estate, or other property) into a trust that benefits both you (or your loved ones) and a charity like The Caring Place. Depending on how the trust is structured, it can provide income to you now and a gift to us later, or provide support to us now and return the remaining assets to your family later. Your trust is typically set up with the help of your attorney and financial advisor, so the details are tailored to your situation.

Charitable Remainder Trust

A Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT) pays income to you or your beneficiaries for a set period—often for life—and then delivers the remaining balance to The Caring Place.

You may benefit from:

  • Income for you or your family. Receive regular payments from the trust for years to come.
  • An immediate tax deduction. Claim a charitable deduction in the year you fund the trust, based on the future gift to The Caring Place.
  • Capital gains savings. When you fund the trust with appreciated assets like stock or real estate, you may avoid capital gains tax and put more of your gift to work.
  • A lasting legacy. When the trust term ends, the remainder supports our mission for years to come.

Charitable Lead Trust

A Charitable Lead Trust (CLT) works in the opposite order. It provides support to The Caring Place first (through payments during the trust term) and then returns the remaining assets to you or your heirs.

You may benefit from:

  • Immediate impact. Your gift goes to work right away, meeting essential needs in our community.
  • Estate and gift tax advantages. A CLT can reduce the taxable value of assets you pass to your family.
  • A gift that returns to your loved ones. When the trust term ends, the remaining assets transfer to your heirs.

Why Give to The Caring Place Through a Trust?

Support your neighbors close to home. Every dollar stays local, meeting the essential needs of families throughout northern Williamson County — food, shelter, and dignity in a moment of crisis.

Balance generosity with your goals. A charitable trust lets you give generously while still providing income or protecting assets for the people who depend on you.
