Give Through a Gift of Stock
A tax-smart way to support your neighbors in Georgetown and northern Williamson County.
Donating appreciated stock is one of the most powerful ways to give. When you transfer securities directly to The Caring Place, you can support families in crisis while potentially avoiding capital gains tax — turning a strong market into real, immediate help for neighbors right here at home.
Why Give Stock?
Avoid capital gains tax. When you donate appreciated stock you've held for more than a year, you generally avoid the capital gains tax you'd owe if you sold it yourself—so more of your gift goes to the mission and less to the IRS.
Claim a charitable deduction. Your tax-deductible amount is based on IRS guidelines regarding the value of the stock at the time of the donation. Your advisor can help you understand exactly what that means for your situation.
Give more without spending more. Because you avoid capital gains tax, a gift of stock often costs you less than an equivalent cash gift—while giving The Caring Place the same, or greater, value.
Keep your gift local. Every gift stays right here, meeting the essential needs of families throughout Georgetown and northern Williamson County with compassion and respect.
How It Works
Giving stock is simple, and we're glad to help at every step.

What Happens to Your Gift
