We understand that unexpected situations arise that make paying rent or utilities difficult. Our assistance is not based on your regular income but instead is based on the financial crisis within the last 60 days. Because of this, we ask that you provide verification of the loss of money you have experienced, making paying your rent, mortgage or utility difficult. What is this?
- Loss of Income (examples)
- Did you lose your job or have fewer hours? We will need your paystubs showing normal and lost pay; unemployment statement; termination letter
- Did you lose your benefits? We will need your SNAP letter, Social Security letter or unemployment statement showing normal and lost benefits.
- Did you have to pay for medical expenses, funeral expenses, home repairs or car repairs? We
will need paid invoices showing us that you paid this.
- Proof of Residency within our service area (Not in our service area? Visit https://www.findhelp.org to find assistance in your area)
- Current lease with terms and landlord/tenant signatures
- Current mortgage statement or WCAD
- Current utility bill
- Postmarked mail from bank or government within 60 days
- Current voter registration card
- Current vehicle registration or insurance policy
- Current home or renter’s insurance policy
- Proof of Identification for ALL people in the home
- Adults – picture ID with name and date of birth
- Children – Birth certificate, health insurance card, school records, immunization record, SNAP letter
- Support of the bill you are asking for assistance with
- Lease, mortgage or utility statement or deposit information
- For transportation assistance for medical appointments or job interviews, proof of appointment for a future date within the month
- Proof of lost money (financial crisis) for rent, mortgage and utility assistance
How Can I Request Assistance?
The Caring Place is open Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Last check-in for financial assistance is 2:30 p.m.)
You may walk in with ALL of your documents to have your request reviewed. If you are missing documentation, we will guide you on what is needed to consider your request for assistance.
